HR Pursuit

Phase 2 of 3 · Hire, Land, Keep

Role scorecard

A one page description of the outcomes, skills, and evidence that define a successful hire for a specific job.

Write the job as evidence, then go looking for that evidence.

In plain English

A scorecard names what good looks like in this job before anyone writes a posting or sits in an interview.

What it looks like in business
Instead of hiring a nice conversationalist for operations, the owner lists the three results the person must produce in ninety days and the work samples that would prove it.
Why it matters
Without a scorecard, every interviewer invents a different job, and the person who interviews well beats the person who can do the work.

Reading it once is not the same as knowing it. Put this term in the daily rotation and let the quiz come back for it.

Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures, 29 C.F.R. Part 1607

This is HR guidance, not legal advice, and rules change. Check the current text and your own facts before you act on it. When a situation needs a lawyer, Jennifer will say so.

A worn key board beside an open bay door holds a row of old brass keys and one bright new key on a clean tag, late sun raking across them, DFW.

Phase 2: Hire, Land, Keep

A repeatable path from a vague vacancy to a person who is still good at day 90, with the live record checked before day one.

Hire well and keep people past the 90 day cliff

Knowing the term is the easy half.

Knowing whether it applies to your eight people, on your payroll, this week, is the part owners call about.
